TYPE OF PASTA SHAPE (UNIQUE)

Hello guys! I'm back again to write more about the shape. I've told you before that pasta have a lot of different shape, right? I'm not going to explain all of them though because it will take a long time. I will choose some attractive shape and common shape for my blog. For today, I want to share the unique one, okay? So, let's continue shall we?

Let's begin with Farfalle. Farfalle is an extremely popular bow tie shape pasta. It is said to be made for the first time in 1500s in Northern Italy. In Italian "Farfalla" means a butterfly. This pasta also looks like bow tie. So, instead of buying it, you can make it yourselves as it is quite easy to make your own "bow tie". To make Farfalle shape pasta you have to roll pasta dough very thin and slice it into wide ribbons, pinch in the middle to form the classic bow tie shape. Allow Farfalle to rest and dry a little before cooking. According to Type of Pasta, Farfalle is used in a very wide variety of dishes – it is ideal for soups (like minestrone), tomato and cream dishes, baked dishes (such as casseroles because it bakes and holds its shape well) or Farfalle pasta salads. This type of pasta is chewy and flavourish, especially if made from hard durum wheat so it also can be enjoyed plain.

The next shape that I will share with you guys is Ruote. Yup, I never see this type before and I don't know much about it. But, let's explore it. This pasta called ruote is because they were shaped like a wagon wheels and they often called by that name. Ruote literally means wheels in Italian. This pasta go well in all types of dishes, and its spokes are great for catching chunks of meat and vegetables. According to wiseGEEK, Ruote pasta makes a great aesthetic addition to soups or pasta salad. It is also great with chunky sauces or meat dishes since it will soak up lots of sauce in the "spokes" of the wagon wheels. Alfredo sauce is another great option for ruote pasta.

The next type is Campanelle. Yup, I never ate this before either. According to Pasta Fits, Campanelle means bells. Campanelle pasta resembles a small cone with a ruffled edge. It is also known as gigli pasta. Campanelle pasta can be paired with lean proteins, vegetables or sauces of any base. These shapes can also be a treat in a cold pasta salad. You can click here to watch how to make cold pasta salad. I personally think this kind of pasta is not quite famous in Malaysia because i never found this pasta around before, even in a western restaurant. So, why not we try to make one and taste how good it could be.

So, the last pasta that you need to know is Conchiglie. It is a pasta that shaped like a shell. If i'm not mistaken, it's ready in small, medium and large size. According to ifood.tv, Conchiglie originates in Italy, where the name is derived from “conchiglia”, an Italian word that means seashell. In fact, this word is similar in meaning with the English “conch”, which has been derived from “konkhe”, the Greek word for shell. Conchiglie is one of the most popular shapes in Italy as its ability to work with every sauces. Its shell look-alike shape also makes it popular because it could attract people to buy them.
